Project Spotlight

Environmental Public Health Tracking Network

State vital records, health statistics, and health information systems professionals work hard to maintain and provide valuable health data for making public health decisions and evaluating needed changes.

The CDC's Environmental Public Health Tracking Network combines health data and environmental data from national, state, and city sources and provides supporting information to make this data easier to understand. The Tracking Network has data and information on environments, hazards, health effects, and population health.

The partnership between NAPHSIS and the Tracking Network promotes collaboration among vital records, health statistics, and health information systems professionals, providing environmental and health data to public health practitioners, policymakers, and the public.

NAPHSIS is one of many Tracking Network stakeholders, including federal, state, and local health and environmental agencies, non-governmental organizations, and academic research centers. NAPHSIS helped develop nationally consistent vital event data measures, which the Tracking Network displays on their data portal. Additionally, NAPHSIS acts as the liaison for CDC-Funded Tracking Program States' vital records offices.
